I wouldn't fully trust the web site, I'd talk to your dealer.

I kinda thought of that - but every time I tried to 'build', I got the same thing. Ugh..... I hate car shopping!!

When I went to order my truck the website wouldn't let me do certain options like the black interior with the Inferno. I gave my order to my dealer for a DCLB sport with Premium and Tech JBL. The dealer said that toyota didn't want to accept the build but they did and I have a build date of Jan 22

If you do this over the course of months, you'll find the options actually change. It is horribly frustrating.
I think it is how they "batch" their build queues.

    Hey Janster,

I went through the same thing, I'm awaiting an Inferno AC Sport right now,and they are rare. But yeah, whether it's a bug with their website build feature, or maybe your features are technically, currently unavailable, I don't know. But if you are not able to add the features on the website, it very well may still be possible to order it in the "real world".

    http://www.toyota.com/content/ebrochure/2016/tacoma_ebrochure.pdf

Here is a link to the 2016 Tacoma brochure. Pages 17-26 were VERY helpful to me when trying to figure out what options came with what trims, which options/packages were possible, and which ones I wanted to do. The more decisions you can have done before you go into the dealership, the less your head will be swimming and the less they can take advantage of your overwhelmed mental state, right?

    Good to know.
Any way you can shed some light on your ordering process?
When did you order at the dealer?
When did you get your confirmation and what exactly is the build date? When they start building or when they deliver?

Thanks!! I also noticed the fine print on the last page....

Toyota strives to build vehicles to match customer interest and thus they typically are built with popular options and option packages. Not all options/packages are available separately and some may not be available in all regions of the country. See
toyota.com for information about options/packages commonly available in your area. If you would prefer a vehicle without any or
with different options, contact your dealer to check for current availability or the possibility of placing a special order

I placed my order on November 5th with a $1000 deposit. The dealer was not very knowledgeable on everything with the truck but they said they would put the order in. About a week later I got a call from the sales manager saying that they tried finding a truck with my specs at the request of Toyota and found nothing. They did say they had to work with Toyota and get them to approve the build. After about two weeks I was giving January 22,2016 for a build date. A VIN was assigned. I have not been given and other updates yet but I will be follow up this week to see if there is any updates. I think they said it's about 3 weeks for delivery to PA.

You got a VIN…shit…I've put a deposit down 3 weeks ago, and all I've heard is they hope to have my truck in by last week of Feb. Now I'm renting a prius off them for $300/month….for the love of God lol.

Damn. That is what I was afraid of! What a wait!! I was in the same boat, as nothing even remotely close to what I wanted in a 3 state radius.

I was told a 12 week wait for custom orders. I placed my order, along with $1000 deposit on Dec. 26th. I still have yet to get a Toyota Allocation or Confirmation from them, but supposedly from what the dealership said, they only process them the 10th of every month, and update the dealerships.
I keep bugging them for updates. They told me all this wait is "built into" the 12 week quote. They said half the wait is the processing part and the other half is the actual build of the truck. Once it gets processed it usually only takes 40 days to get built and delivered. Per what the dealer says.... so... who knows.

They also said that why the wait is so long is the Tech package. Toyota supposedly only markets 5 Tacomas with a Tech Package for the entire Eastern region market, not including special orders. So the demand is high. Again, this is per the dealer. Whether he's blowing smoke, I have no clue. This is my first Toyota. and first ever custom order and build.

18 days in, and the wait is killing me!! Acknowledge my order and start building!! Joining this forum DEFINITELY hasn't helped matters any. Seeing all they great pics and learning all these great mods is making me even more anxious.

But anywho... here's the custom build I'm waiting on:
2016 Tacoma TRD Off-Road Double Cab Long Bed, Inferno (Auto)
    Orange Accent Trim Interior
Premium Tech Package w/ JBL Audio & Tow
    Bed Mat
    Roof Rack
TRD OR 16" Beadlock - Blacks
    Mudguards
All Weather Floor Liners & Sill Protectors
5-In Oval Tube Steps - Black

I was told the same thing about the same package in my region. That was the delay. I'm using the waiting time to purchase accessories for the truck. Just purchased the suspension kit. Wheels and tires in a couple of weeks. already got LEDs for the interior and license plate. LED bed and hood kit and mud guards. Take the time to do some shopping. It's like expecting a baby.

    Right on!
Thanks to this forum I have a long list of needs, wants, and dreams.
My first mod was ordered this morning, Vinyl Tailgate Fill Ins (matte black).
I have Friday off, so I plan on going to buy my Plasti Dip (for my badging) and my Yeti Bottle Opener.

So the 'baby' gifts have begun to pile up... :)

I ordered my inferno on Nov 21. The first time the dealer tried to change an order it didn't take but with his next allocation mine was good. It was built on Jan 5 and should be here the 20-25th. I can't wait.

You gave it a bath at a Dog Wash?!? LOL JK! Probably a silly question but how do you like the color? I just ordered one.... It was a tough decision for me. I was stuck between the Quicksand and the Inferno.... In the end I choose the Inferno because I thought the Quicksand was just a little too conservative. I typically don't have a tough time deciding what color to purchase. I will have my Off Road AC in about 6 weeks
