Indigo Ink Pearl vs Blue Ribbon

I've been looking for a used cap/topper for my '15 DCSB (Blue Ribbon) for some time and have come up empty handed. I recently saw a cap from a '08 DCSB in Indigo Ink Pearl and it looks like a pretty darn close match. Anyone know how close or different these 2 paint colors are?

Toyota ( and man other manufacturers) reuse colours and slap new names on them for marketing's sake, what matters is not the name but rather the colour code, 2008 shows two blue colours 8p1 and 8p4 and 2010 showes 1 blue 8p1 PM me your vin and I can research which colour yours is, or you can call a dealer and research it yourself.

That said the prefix 8P(x) suggests the two colours are very similar with slightly different shades, if the topper is fairly priced I'd buy it were I you.

 

The paint code for Blue Ribbon is 8T5. As long as it is fairly close I'd be happy. The truck bed and the topper will be on 2 separate planes so a slight variation shouldn't be too noticeable.

Not sure why I had 2010 in my head, either way I imagine they'd be close enough to keep me happy. Esspecially if the images you posted are the colours in question.

Another option is to order a touchup paint of each for $5 or whatever and make a test piece to see how close they are in person with various lighting.

 

Indigo ink pearl is exclusive to 05-08. Blue ribbon metallic is the replacement for it. Theyre super close, indigo ink is just a little deeper, but goes to shit so quick from the factory for some reason.

 

For anyone interested, here is the difference in color shade from Indigo Ink and Blue Ribbon. Looking up close, you can see a difference in the color. The Blue Ribbon appears to have more metal flake. I've had my truck appraised at 3 different Toyota dealers (looking at a 4Runner) and none of them noticed the difference.
