Hello, I'm getting new wheels and tires for my 1st gen 5 lug. Looks like stock lug torque is 83ft-lbs. If I'm switching from stock (195/75r14 & 15x6) to 235/75r15 tires and 15x7 wheels, do I need to torque the lug nuts more since the wheel/tire will be heavier, or will that cause damage? I couldn't find anything on google relating unfortunately.

    Thanks!

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
You don’t want to torque them down more. Those specs are given so that you don’t over tighten and snap lugs off.
You want to make sure you use the right lug nuts that seat properly on the rim you have.

A buddy of mine lost his tire and rim, while driving; due to over tightening the lug nuts. It weakened the lugs and they snapped.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
The torque value has nothing to do with the size of the wheel/tire. It has to do with the lug studs.

I run 35s on 17 inch aluminum wheels... still torque to 85 ft lbs. (because I've always torqued to 85 on this truck... because 83 is dumb lol)
