When I test drove the TRD OR I noticed it had an inclinometer function built into the dash display. Does anyone know if there's a way to add that functionality to the sport? Seems like a cool gadget...also, input on if you've ever actually used the inclinometer for something useful?

I had an '84 4Runner that had one on the dash. Never used it. I have downloaded an inclinomometer app for my phone. I never use it. I have decided I don't use it because my truck is not an airplane...

Same thing in my 17 F-150 Lariat, except Ford calls it "Off-road mode" lol. Unless you're calculating something where you need the yaw and pitch of your truck, it's really just there to be a gimmic.
Yep, there's a time and a place for it, while flying :D

I set it up as my custom steering wheel button because, hey, I needed to put something on it. I haven't touched it since.

I've used it, I think it comes in handy. I'm sure the truck would be fine a lot longer than I could handle tipping wise, but I use it as a guide because I have no idea how the side airbags decide when they want to deploy. Therefore I keep it out of that upper zone.

i used it yesterday heading up a 33% incline.

how do i know it was a 33% incline? exactly.

by the time you see you're at 30+% you are probably committed, so in the real world not sure how useful it is, but i do know i made it up 33%... thanks 'yota!

Now, THIS could be a good use case for the sonar though. If the inclinometer could show you a view of your approaching and departing angles before you're committed, that could be an even cooler gimmick.

Exactly. It was entertaining the first thousand times... now, not so much. Bitter is the word.

Side airbags, if designed like the 4Runner, operate on the rate of change of both angle and speed. The 5th gen 4Runner used to have a button that would let you turn your side airbags off when off road. Starting in 2014, they redesigned the logic and did away with the button.

I'm not sure if all have it or just certain packages. But this is what it looks like. The bottom one. You can program it to quickly bring up whichever screen you use the most. I think you go to the screen you want and press and hold the button to set it. If not, you can find the how-to in the manual.

I didn't know what it was either. I was really disappointed when twin machine guns didn't pop up out of the hood. Not even a passenger ejector seat. I reckon Q only works on British cars.
