    I install the seal with that side against the part being sealed.

    I believe it will seal either direction. I like to put the flat side against the diff. That way if the side being crushed does any gouging it will do it to the bolt head.

    It’s not side specific.
    Pick it up, put it on, tighten the bolt. Done.

    Keep it simple. No need to overthink it.
    You’ll be fine what ever way you put it on.:thumbsup:

    When I did mine I just noted the direction of the gasket I was replacing and repeated.

    Flat side to the housing……but It really doesn’t matter. I’ve installed with flat toward plug before and it didn’t leak

    Flat side facing drain plug. Turn by hand you will feel it go loose, that's the washer crushing, once that happens then torque to spec.

    When my truck was about a year old I had some TSB work done on the rear diff. When I changed the fluid a couple of years ago, I discovered the dealer never put a crush washer on. It was torqued to spec and never leaked, so I guess more cause not to over think the direction.
