Looking to install a gun safe in my truck. Would love some recommendations and pics.

Some ideas for preferences (just ideas, not necessarily criteria) are :

    • Discrete. I’d rather it be out of sight from the exterior of the truck
    • Has traditional key over ride for the lock, if the lock is electronic or combination
    • Not an under seat type

Does that pretty much leave me with an in-console type like this one:

I'm interested as well. In for the recommendations.

That is pretty much it unless you wanna pay somebody to design a safe from the ground up. You would be without your ride until the job was done.

There is a guy in CA that does this exact thing and he also does executive protection vehicles.

He told me it would be around the 3-4 k mark to do one in my old ranger.....

In your search you might find that Tuffy makes a behind the seat “security box” for the double cab. Their part # 331-01.

It is a POS, do not buy it.

Can you offer any additional detail on why it's a POS? I've read that some folks have had fitment issues, but I'm wondering if there are issues that extend beyond that. Curious if the locking mechanism is garbage, shitty materials, etc. Were you able to return it after install and determining it was a POS?

Looked at a console safe, but they're more than I wanted to spend. I got a molle panel behind the rear seats and attached a cheap safe with a key to the panel. Holster is on me at all times and any time I am at an anti-American establishment, I toss it in, lock it up and the rear bench seat covers it out of sight.

As a Canadian who does an annual trip to the USA I don't carry a gun, so could you list some of the anti-American establishments so I know which establishments to avoid?

Side Note: If you are in Texas and it's anything other than a 30.06 or 30.07 sign matching state regulations, you can laugh and carry right on past the pansy signs.

How is that safe secured in the console? Could somebody lift the whole safe out?

It bolts down through the holes in the bottom of the console I believe. I've been debating one as well since i usually just throw my gun in the center console when I can't carry it
