    Hi guys,

I really know nothing about radios, radio signal, and waves and all that. I was wondering though, is there a way to improve FM radio reception in my truck?
I travel a lot to visit family and I like to listen to FM radio on the way. There is a favorite radio station I listen to that I normally only get reception for about 1 hour away from my home. I keep the reception until I'm almost 1 hour from my destination (trip is usually 350 miles/5.5 hours). Can I add a super duper antenna or something to my truck so that maybe I can get reception to that station my whole trip, or heck, even on a daily basis?
Although work would be closer to 60 miles away from where I normally would start getting reception to that station.

Just curious as to what I could do, if anything, to improve reception.

I think pulling in FM at 350 miles will be a stretch regardless of what kind of antenna you have. FM is basically line-of-sight, once you drop over the horizon you'll lose reception. You don't say where you're located, but if there's reliable cell service on your route you might look into an iHeart Radio app for your cell phone and pick up your station that way (assuming they are on iHeart).

Would go that route if I had a better data plan lol.

Thanks for the help. I figured it might be a stretch.

That's only beneficial if you want to listen to those XM stations right? Because I really don't care for XM radio. I listen to country and the stations usually blow lol.
If I can tune into iHeart radio or something through it then maybe it might be worth it

You could try an antenna signal booster. They're generally easy enough to install & require only a power source - which you should be able to find behind your radio.

Why don't you just get Next Radio or IheartRadio on your phone and then sync your phone to your truck?

That's the only thing. I'd probably blow through my allotment pretty quick lol.
I would like to set up my GPS on my phone though so maybe one of these days I'll get unlimited data

They do and they don't. It all depends on your issue.

I don't know how much data the app uses, but I use Pandora pretty regularly on my daily commutes and I only have a 3Gb limit. Might be worth a test run sometime just to get an idea how much data it uses.
