I'm being told the FJ cruiser fit kit works with the 4.0l V6 SC. True??

The title says it all. A dealership is willing to sell me the supercharger and a fit kit for the FJ cruiser. The guy on the phone told me that the only real difference between the two for kits is that the FJ cruiser fit kit has more tubing. This is the Toyota dealership in Sparks Nevada and he says they have installed some with that set up.

Has anyone heard of this? I'm asking because I've been researching the hell out of this and haven't seen anything about it. I would hate to spend the money and find out he made a mistake and I was stuck with a supercharger for which there are no more fit kits.

Yeah. They told me the FJ kit has "more hoses". But would it still work? What problems might arise from using the "wrong" kit (dealer installation)?

I wouldn't risk it dude. Thats a lot of money to spend on a kit that may or may not work. There are tons of other dealers which are willing to sell their fit kits. Call up Toyota of Irving. They have a fit kit for our trucks I believe that they may be willing to part with. If not you can try Toyota of Bellvue Washington.

You do realize that any of these dealers you call can assist you with and are capable of locating a fit kit within the continental US right? Just ask them if they can check for its availability at other dealers. If you find a dealer that is carrying more then one that is a good thing because if they have just one that usually means they are holding it for a customer.

Update: Found one with the sc/kit, but they want 5k. Or I can get the sc and FJ kit for 3.7k. And my local dealership says they will install and maintain factory warranty with the FJ kit. Still a bad idea? Huge $$ difference, and any problems would be covered for another few years

That's where I got mine, they said they were able to locate 50 kits at other dealers in the US last week.

I was told similar by Sparks. Except my version was the hoses are shorter.

I'm installing my own so knowing I will be focusing on that part alone, last thing I want on my plate during the install is the addition of having to drive around getting new hoses, modifying wires, and making brackets.

The problem is a lot of dealers are hanging on to their kits. Particularly on the west coast because of the fact that they either want to sell them alongside with the blowers or the fact that since Toyota called the blower lineup quits the have basically just placed a stop order on them. So a lot of these dealers are being c*cksuckers about letting them go.

Also if you do find a kit, do expect to pay top price or an inflated price. The dealers who are willing to let them go, know that the demand for these suddenly shot up, so now they are either retaining them until sold at full price OR they are marking them up $20 to $65

Yes. They should let their remaining inventory go. If they don't have a blower in stock what incentive to they have in hanging on to them?

I could understand that, but a sale is a sale. Whether its $500 or $5000.

Well, I was wrong anyway. They are selling the supercharger for $3700 but they still want the 500 and some odd bucks for the fit kit. And that's from South Carolina so I would have to have it shipped. It looks like after making calls all day, I'm not gonna find the sc and the fit kit for less then around $4500 before shipping. I'm actually willing to pay that but my wife isn't. I think I'm going to have to wait on URD to make one for the 2013

Careful. URD kits aren't likely to ever be CARB approved for California.

Damn dude. Looks like I made out well. I just picked up my blower and fit kit for 4285. By ordering the 2.8 pulley from URD I ended up breaking at 4,448 all shipped to my door. Just convince her that you are wasting unnecessary fuel economy because of all your heavy armor and by slapping this on you will start saving more fuel. :D

There's more then one way to skin a cat after all!

    No sir. Not in Commifornia.

Not concerned with smog. There are counties in California without smog requirement at all, and other counties with a smog depending on zip code. So I have ways to deal with that issue.

Looks like URD is going to be it for me. It'll cost more and I won't keep my warranty intact, but that seems to be my only option since I'm unable to pull the trigger now on the TRD for what they're asking.

How risky is using the URD? Do we have any members with a good number of miles on their truck after installing one other than the lobstah?

Edit: just read the thread on the wiring necessary to make the mkII work with a 09+. Way beyond my skill level. Supercharger might end up being a pipe dream.

Dude. The URD kit is going to cost MORE then the TRD blower with the fit kit. I don't see what the problem is here? Not only the TRD one a bolt on and requires less work, but is by far more reliable than the URD and requires essentially no tuning out of the gate to make it work.

Tell your wife to put down the weed and stop bogarting the money.
