    Greetings,
I have had my truck for a little over a year now.

    2005 Tacoma PreRunner Double Cab 2WD V-6
    4.0-L V-6 DOHC 24V
    Engine 1GRF

This is probably a dumb question. I’m trying to make sure I do not have a serious electrical issue. The accessory panel just below the AC vent on drivers side has several buttons. The 400W/AC 115V/100W button has the potential to illuminated, but does not. The other buttons, are they supposed to be backlit at least? Since the 400W does not have any illumination even when depressed I probably do have some issues somewhere for that one.

    Thanks for your help.

Have you checked the fuse under the dash? My gen2 I had quit illuminating and I checked the fuses and had 2 blown fuses.

I did check them and they seemed fine, my first thought. Previous owner had some less than desirable wiring for a subwoofer and LED lights. There’s also relay box under the hood that may be for LED’s, not sure yet. My thought is the ‘home brew’ wiring was on the sketchy side. I didn’t mention it but one of the backlit controls for the AC is not working either.

Hmmm. I wonder if that extra box your speaking of isn’t the cause. I can’t stand home brew wiring. I’m not a pro but I always make sure I heat shrink the wires then wrap them in 3M super 88 tape. It’s as close to factory as I can get. Take a picture of that box your taking about and I’ll help do some research from some friends that are more wiring inclined

Here’s a couple of more pictures of potential issue.

That box shown should be for the subwoofer.
Unsure about the inverter switch mine lights up but the buttons each have their own bulb. I did mine already.BC3514BB-7D0A-48CC-A61A-A96ECCDAA2A2.jpg56BE331E-3ED7-4F26-BA26-BD0E924E994F.jpg

If the vehicle TAIL lights work, then you have a bulb issue or a wire issue for the Dash illumination switches.
