A few months ago my ignition rod that turns the ignition switch broke. since then I've had the ignition switch hanging down and that's how I would start the truck. well last night when I got home and turned it off the switch fell apart and I lost a couple pieces for it and now I cans start the truck. I have a ignition panel I had for another project but I want to use it so I can get rid of the hanging ignition switch. the problem is I need to know what each wire is that goes into the connector for the ignition switch. With the switch broken I cant turn the switch to check voltage or anything to figure out which wire is which. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It helps a lot thank you. I've looked for diagrams of it but have been having trouble finding one that's accurate.

They are from Mitchel and are redrawn so I can't say they 100% are right but they usually are.

I’m pretty sure you can get a new switch from autozone or so.

I broke the rod youre talking about a couple years ago and had to have @BartMaster1234 get me the whole key cylinder thing at a pick n pull.

I was going to get another ignition switch but none of the parts houses where I live have it in stock. I have to have the truck for work in the morning so I was just putting in the ignition panel for a temporary fix. ill get another lock assembly and ignition switch soon.

That's true. My wife rode with me to the store a while back and she told me it was sketchy starting it with a screw driver. I told her the rod in there made it 21 years and 370,000 miles and I'm surprised its the first one that broke with how small it is.

Thank you so much, I'm trying to instal a easy guard pushbutton start in my truck that was stollen and recovered. The 8pin harness was cut and so it's easy to connect but I'm not getting any reaction from the starter.
