Hey you guys, I recently bought a 98 tacoma and it's been having a no crank no start issue. There was an incessant clicking from the fuse box in the engine when the key was out that only stopped when I disconnected the battery. I had to leave in that state for a week or 2, so I took the battery to o'reilly's to charge it and it was bad, so I replaced it and the crusty terminal connections. No fix, so I also tested the starter relay (fine) and replaced some fuses, no fix (the connections to the box are all fine). The headlights and interior lights turn on full power, but I realized the accessory doesn't turn on anything. I went to test the ignition switch and when I pulled off the bottom of the dash, I found this devil work from a previous owner.
There are wires spliced with electrical tape and house connectors, there is a mystery green wire that is spliced into something from under the center console, the switch wires are super gunked with electrical tape, there is a homeless plug-in connector and two wires taped together that I have determined should have a plug-in connector, and to top it all off the ignition cylinder assembly is ZIP TIED to the dash.
I want to clean it all up, but I have no idea what all of the wires are for, so I was hoping someone has diagrams or can tell me the color codes. It's a DLX with nuthin fancy like power windows or anything.
Thank you for anything you can give me

    Welcome to the Forum!!

About the only thing I can say is track down a copy of your Electrical Wiring Diagrams for your 98 and work through things

I hear All Data is a good source unless someone can post a copy here.

Romex nuts on a vehicle tends to give me nightmares .

Any local friends that can help If you were close to me I would be glad to fix this mess.

    Best of Luck!!

Thank you so much! This is going to take some studying, but it's exactly what I need.
Thanks for the welcome, too! I've been mooching off of this forum for years with a previous tacoma, but never became a member until my problem was beyond the search engine.

Here is a wiring diagram in color so it might make it easier to trace things. The ignition switch is on page 2.
