Picked up my first Taco TRD this weekend with only 60k miles on it! Unfortunately had some problems on the highway driving approximately 900 miles. After about 10 hours, traction control light came on to show off and the engine light! Was lucky to get off highway near gas station exit. Engine was losing power and starting to sputter. It was about 15 degrees and not much fun checking for leaks and fluids. I had driven through the mountains of PA and used cruise periodically when wasn't too hilly. No visible leaks, oil levels fine, coolant level was on the low line. Bought some coolant just in case and filled to full line. Started and engine was rough but heard fluid sound whoosh through and engine smoothed out. Both warning lights stayed on. Ended up driving carefully for a few hours, checking periodically the fluids. Cruise control would not work. Temp never moved from middle of gauge, so never thought coolant was the issue. Stopped for the night and next morning, she fired right up and no warning lights on. Drove the rest of the way on my trip for several hours until I could get into a shop. Cruise control now working. The techs showed me the following codes: rough idle, ignition coil circuit open on B, D, F. They had not seen this before. I asked them to do an oil change and coolant system flush/fill to make sure all was okay. The only other info I know about the truck is that a few years ago, the truck shut down on the previous owner a few times. He took it to a Toyota dealer that spent 3 days looking for electrical issues with no success. They put in a new battery, which seemed to keep the truck from shutting down for 2 years! I've read some threads about possible ignition coil failures but have seen things as simple as plugs, circuits, fuses, and wires. Any input on this is appreciated before I take into my local Toyota dealer to inspect further. My truck requires an inspection sticker that won't pass until these codes are not present.

Looks like you have the issue on the cylinder 2,4,6 bank. Check the harness on that bank. Check connector E10 on ECU in the cabin. If harness is good, need to check/replace ECU

Thanks for the info! Will get that checked. Hope it’s just an electrical issue. First hard drive for this truck in a long time.
