I was in the market for a nice roto molded cooler, a couple weeks ago. I didn't want to go crazy spending 400 dollars on a Yeti, or wait months for an RTIC, so I eventually settled for an Igloo Sportsman 55 qt. A buddy of mine has one and raves about it being equal quality to the Yeti. I blindly went and picked one up at Sams Club for 180ish dollars. Fast forward a few days, and said buddy and I went on a trip down to the beach with our coolers fully packed. After a day or two it became apparent that his cooler was holding ice MUCH better than mine. After the trip I began to do some investigating and found that there are two large spots in the cooler completely devoid of any insulation. I am currently in contact with Igloo's claims department, and it looks like they are going to replace the cooler ( and hopefully let me keep this one ) relatively hassle free. I will update.

Conclusion: These coolers seem to be hit or miss. My buddies works great, mine doesn't do much better than a backpack. The price point is very enticing, but take a flashlight with you to inspect the quality of the insulation before purchasing.

I have the 20 quart version. It works good as far as holding ice but it's definitely made cheap. I'm happy with mine so far I can't complain but for about $25 more than I paid the 20 quart rtic my friend has is much nicer

Thanks for the review, I am in the market for a cooler, and I didn't know about that insulation flashlight technique.

Yeah mine holds ice decently. I'm gonna check the insulation now after this review though. Thanks

I'll have to give this trick a try.

I have the Walmart version with no complaints. I did notice there was a small section that was condensing water from the air on the outside. I makes me wonder if there is a void in that spot.

If there is a void, I'll just drill an 1/8 hole and spray foam it.

    Thanks for the tip.
