If I do the oil change at third party, will the warranty be voided?

I’ve read multiple cases of bad experience at the dealers, I would like to bring the 2020 TRD Sport to a trusted third party shop (Tire Plus, Firestone, Valvoline, Jiffy Lube, etc.), will that void the warranty? Thanks

From what I understand, as long as you keep your records and receipts you should be good.

Jiffy lube type places will be as bad or worse than the dealership in terms of making mistakes.

No warranty is still good. However you need to keep the receipt(s) as record.

It won't affect youre factory basic warranty as long as you keep records. If you have any kind of extended warranty you need to read the fine print, it may require dealer service. I change my own oil and stay away from the dealer as much as possible however if my choices were dealer, jiffy lube, firestone id go with the dealer.

As long as you keep receipts, it doesn't matter who changes it, including doing it yourself.

The biggest problem with all oil changes done by any shop is There is no money in it every shop looses money doing them. by the time they pay for the filter, oil, disposal, uniforms, insurance, labor, work comp, lights, building. They loose money so why do they do them? Because it gives them a chance to upsell you on other things. Yes some places get pushy about it, but just say NO to the extra services. Find a good local shop that you can trust. That does not mean a jiffy lube type of place can't be trusted. But find a shop that has been around in the same place for 10 plus years and that has employees that have worked there longer then 2 years. ( crack head mechanics last 3-6 months )

As a former Toyota master diag and current mechanic for over 23 and half years never take your car to jiffy lube.that place is shady as hell. They do horrible job. They at times do not replace the oil filter oil. They over tighten the oil filters always . Stay clear. Do it yourself. Take to dealer before there for sure. Or what I find is if there is a community of toyota Tacoma Owners in your city find them and come together and work on it yourself. It's great to know others and learn about your trucks this way. One other thing you can do and ask a Toyota dealer is ask to have a regular tech do an oil change.

I do mine myself at their recommend intervals. I also have upgraded the oil filter from the standard one they use (has no upper and lower ring seal on the paper filter) to the TRD Pro filter (it has the ring seal on both ends). The filter is never stocked ‘in house’ so I order it in. I also take a 2ounce sample into a small plastic bottle when draining and have it analyzed. That’s my detailed record. It’s a good habit to get into.

No one ever posts had a great experience at the dealership, for every complaint, mistake there are thousands of everything went great. I’ve had my dealers do service for 40 years, only issue was a wheel cap left off, they called me five minutes after I left.

Some manufacturers make you have service at their place. Nissan used to, I’m not sure if they still do. Toyota is not one of those. Just keep receipts and make a log if you have any concerns about it. But it is not required

Yup. It’s cheap and the analysts numbers tell you what’s wearing or not, if there’s dirt or type of contamination getting in either from bypass at the oil filter, oil cap or air breather. It also tells you if you actually need to change the oil.

Along with keeping the receipts, you can also input the data in the toyotaowners app or online. Put in the date, what was done, and the mileage. Easy way to keep track of all service history.

I don’t even think you need to keep your receipts; As long as you change your oil with the recommended time, the manufacturer doesn’t care if you do it yourself, have your mechanic do it, or get it done at Jiffy Lube!
