I'm going to be checking my IAC valve which I suspect needs to be replaced. It seems I can get an OEM part for around $260, which is about double what one of the better parts on Rockauto runs. Anybody have any advice/experience using an aftermarket IAC valve?

It's a roll of the dice. If you replace it with a non OEM part, and it doesn't fix your issue, what are you gonna do?

I would bite the bullet and just buy one from Mcgeorge.....

there was a thread here couple years ago where someone took these apart....

the real oem one had this big ass spring inside it controlling it...
the knockoff just used a plastic bushing in place of that...thats why so cheap....

Turn all accesories off. Start truck cold, after sitting for a few hours, idle should be near 1500-1800 rpm. Should slowly come down to around 1000 rpm. In drive should be about 750. If it does, i.a.c. is working normally. If you clean the throttle plates, it may idle higher then normal till it re-learns its base idle. I like factory parts, but have been bying aftermarket parts for my own car. Customers cars, i push for factory or higher quality parts.

Thanks for the advice. This makes me feel better about spending an extra $100+ for the OEM part.
