iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR Interface Module features

I could use some help fellas, has anyone done a stereo upgrade with the Idatalink Maestro RR on their 3rd Gen tacoma? My specific question is, is it necessary to upgrade to aftermarket stereo? What specific features do I retain (or lose) with the Maestro RR? They are pricey units and I don't mind spending the money but from what I've seen these are usually for Fords or Chrysler that have embedded features built into the stereo such as AC controls or Onstar, from what I've seen my stereo doesn't seem to have these features other than options for the locks in the stereo menues. I'm not sure if there are features that I have not seen as of yet that the Maestro RR could retain. I have a 2017 TRD with the upgraded navigation factory stereo but without the jbl system, any help would really be appreciated guys, thanks in advance.
