I’ve had icon coil overs on the front end of my taco for about 5 years after 3 years ago the drivers side spring snapped. Then about 1 week ago the passenger side soring snapped. (Both springs snapped at the bottom lower end). To my knowledge coil springs aren’t something that just break or snap. I would figure that about a million thing would break before the coil. Are icons just weaker?

Curious if they are installed with a lot of preload?

Also curious what Icon said when you called them regarding the problem?

In 6 years of working my dealer I've seen this happen maybe 4 or 5 times on different makes and models, granted not icon, Ive just assumed that the metal wasn't treated correctly when it was made and had a weak point.

It's extremely rare for any coils to snap. Seems like a fluke in this case, or perhaps they were under too much preload and pressure.

I've seen this happen on OEM fox shocks for ford raptors twice now... Both trucks had between 70-80k miles on them.
