Purchased a 2023 TRD Off Road in June. Thought it was going to be Ice Cap color and after looking at the app it says super white II as a paint code. Is this deceptive advertising. Purchased this color because I thought they had changed the white paint process and now it looks like it is the same as before. What would you do. Attached is current Toyota website screen shot.

If the numeric paint code is 040 its the same as SuperWhite, if it's 041 its the same as Blizzard Pearl. Names are meaningless.

The white paint isn't the problem, the primer is. I don't think we really know if that process has been corrected yet. What we do know is that every model Toyota EXCEPT Tacomas are being repainted for free if the paint fails their adhesion test, including beater Corollas that are over 10 years old.

Personally, my RAV has been repainted (041). My Tacoma is hanging in there, but I don't feel confident that it will be forever. And with Tacomas being excluded from remedy at this point, I'd certainly not buy a white model, especially at a price 2x my first house!

I gonna keep my fingers crossed that the primer on mine holds up. If not and Toyota doesn’t honor the warranty. Im gonna wrap it.

Yeah, it’s the same exact color and paint code unfortunately.

That's a name. You need the actual code in the door jamb.

As my profile says, I have a '13, my RAV is a '14.

It's not the primer to metal, it's the white to the primer. If it's in warranty when it fails, you can get work done. Currently if out of warranty, nothing happens.

Keep in mind that wrap will show every flaw in the surface it's placed over. So you can't just cover peeling paint and expect it to look good. Prep is required.

the fact it is called super white “2” would actually imply they changed something, i.e. this is the 2nd version of super white.

the color and color code can be the same, but something in the paint process could’ve changed to alleviate the chipping/flaking issue. there was speculation for this already, the “2” in that name seemingly supports that theory - part of Toyota’s “kaizen” practice. M

it’s not like Toyota isn’t aware of the issue, most people’s gripe, especially on this forum, is that they neglected the Tacoma on covering repairs. only time will tell with the 2023 (and 2022?) because that was when the name change happened.

I've had 3 SuperWhites and no paint issues. I garage my cars so maybe that is part of it. I feel the changed the name to be less WHITE. Just my opinion.

I have a 2021 and noticed my 040 white is completely different from others. Kinda looks more like an off white/yellowed white. I wash my truck as frequently as possible with good quality soaps/pressure washer. No issues yet thankfully. It is still odd to me I have not been able to find another truck that has the same white as mine. I have a cap installed as well from a 2019 which is a pure white and drives me crazy. Ive tried everything to clean it including an iron remover. Looks like the next option is to cut and buff and see if that will fix it. Anyone else notice this as well?
