Just put in an order for a 2023 sr5 access cab Tacoma. Since, thanks to this super helpful community, I have read about the super white paint having chipping issues.

My question: is "Ice cap" a separate (new and improved) paint than the old super white, or will I suffer from the same chipping issues? I love the color, but it's not too late to change my order. Should I?

I have an Ice Cap 23OR. It's the same paint code (040). There is no evidence or confirmation by Toyota that they've fixed the paint issue. Only time will tell, unfortunately.

I saw a “white” short box sport recently that definitely wasn’t the super white Toyota color. It was way shinier and looked a bit like “pearl white” colours.

I have a 2023 OR with Ice Cap 040 which is the same code as Super White. Really hoping that Toyota did something to improve it but I remain skeptical. Only time will tell if there is a difference….my build was the Baja plant.

If you go through the actual thread, I don't think there are any past 2020.

They say it has a clear coat vs single stage super white. I’ve not seen any posts of trucks made past 2019 with the issue. Could be just a time thing though.

My 2023 is Ice Cap 0040. Which is a multi coat application thicker than the old 040. Look at your window sticker. If you see the 0040 code for your paint you should be good to go

Are you sure it's 040? My '23 says 0040 for the paint code. Assuming the extra zero means something as others have said.

For SA my super white was retroactively renamed to Ice Cap in TIS. So that tells me it's the same. It's like what mutual funds do. Rename a bad performer to sweep history under the rug.

    0040 is 040. They're not different.
