i tow a lot -- what extra maintenance service should i do?

the tow weight we pull is 4600 lbs.
80% of my tacoma miles are towing our rv trailer. my tacoma is our travel truck, i have other cars for daily.

so far, i'm just doing oil every 5k instead of 10k. should i consider replacing transmission fluid at around 20k 30k or so??.. i dont recall seeing any service in reguard to transmission.

    thanks

Your owners manual should have all the info you need for hard service/towing PM intervals.

In addition to your transmission, flush that rear diff, early if you haven’t yet. It’s extremely easy and the first flush has always contained a bunch of crap from what I’ve seen.

Get something to monitor auto transmission fluid temperature (e.g., Scangauge II). Keep fluid temps below 220f to prolong fluid life.

If you haven’t considered it you might take a long hard look at upgrading to the 5.29 differential. It completely changed the truck for me. Tows like a champ now.

I've got around 15k-20K miles towing with my Taco and have done nothing special to it.
It ran fine last time I started it.
