I have been on a long road trip. in the past 200 miles I have had a huge decrease in acceleration in 4,5, and 6th gears (tested on flat ground). the revs will increase from 2k to 4k and there will be minimal acceleration.

The system still engages in every gear. but the power does seem to be there. the clutch also smells a little bit every time I turn off the car.

105k miles 6spd manual, tx pro icon 2.5" lift, 285/75/r16 tires (stock gearing). when I bought the car 3k ago the people inspecting said the clutch might have to be replaced because it had quite a high engagement.

I have 4 weeks left on this road trip and I am at the Portland, OR dealer currently while they assess the problem. i would like to replace with a stage 2 clutch but, it doesn't seem like the right idea in the middle of the road trip

    Questions:
should the entire system be replaced? just the slave cylinder, or TOB?

Most likely the clutch is slipping. Do you feel any slippage in 1st or 2nd under aggressive acceleration?

I would recommend getting the clutch and flywheel package from URD and while you are in there, replace the TOB. Also do the clutch accumulator delete mod. Gives you more feel with the clutch.

I'd go aftermarket oem equivelent, it will be easier to get and cheaper.

Aisin makes a clutch kit that comes with a pilot bearing, throw out bearing, and pressure plate along with the disc.

The kits from aftermarket are always easier to get and contain all the parts that would have to be ordered in.

I wouldn't run a stage 2 on a daily drive unless it had true power adders like a supercharger. Stage 2 makes daily driving a manual suck that little bit more.

Last concern is the flywheel, it's likely overheated with hot spots that will have to be machined out, so it means more down time.

Don't bother with changing the slave, or master, it's not the cause and it can be dealt with later. They can last the life of the truck.

    Great info !!
The 6 speed doesnt use a pilot bearing though . They beefed up the input shaft to compensate for the missing pilot bearing . As far as I am concerned , they needed to beef up a little more . I think its one of the reasons so many members have issues with the clutch release bearing .

sounds like a clutch to me. i'd do the clutch and throw out bearing... resurface the fly wheel, unless it is beyond resurfacing spec. sucks to have to make repairs on a vacation. hopefully it doesn't mess up to much of your trip. hopefully they give you loaner so you can still have some fun.
