My 2002 2.7/auto/4wd Taco's radiator is leaking at the plastic tank. I want to buy a Denso radiator for it but most sites do not list a Denso part number for a Denso radiator that fits it. Summit Racing and a few Ebay stores do list the part number as Denso 221-3138. But while trying to see if i can cross reference this to the truck it keeps coming up as a radiator for a Tacoma with the 3.4 engine.

Summit racing lists 3 potential Denso radiators for this truck depending on the core size of the radiator. 18.750 in., 20.625 in. and 22.750 in. Mine measures 22.750. As far as i can tell the 18.750 is for 2wd trucks while the 20.625 is for manual transmission trucks and the 22.750 is for the 3.4 and And possibly the 2.7 trucks with an automatic.

Does anyone know if Denso #221-3138 will fit the 2.7? RockAuto does not list it to fit my truck but they have the cheapest price on it and I'm buying new KYB struts from them anyways. I just dont want to go to put it in and have it not fit and have to pay return shipping since they dont list it to fit my truck according to their drop down menu.

Well RockAuto is listing the CSF #3157 for both the 3.4 and 2.7 so based off this information i am assuming that as long as the truck is a 3.4 or a 2.7 with an automatic the radiators are the same i will be ordering the Denso.

What is interesting is that Denso does not have any listing for your 4 Cylinder at all.

The number you quote 221-3138 is listed for 4WD Auto 22 3/4' core

The outlets for coolant are the same top right bottom left I would hope the trans cooler lines are the same.

    Good luck.

Yeah Denso part numbers are VERY confusing it seems like they just did not list them very well. Some websites will tell you they fit while others dont. And if you go to densoproducts.com they do not list the Denso radiator at all like they dont even make one. I have a Denso radiator in my 1997 4Runner and it has the same size core as my 2002 Tacoma but a completely different part number that they only list fitting a 4runner.

It says no results found for the 2.7 but it does list 3 different options for the 3.4, strange.

    Get it at the dealer.
IIRC, mine was $120.00 and an exact fit as expected.

    I ordered my Denso from Boch Toyota online (2002 2.7 / 5 speed /4x4)
Sorry I cant help with your part # because of your auto trans.
    It was $190 ( plus $60 shipping).
If you order it using your VIN # they offer free returns if it doesnt fit.

When I replaced my Radiator I got one for a early nineties 4Runner .

Copper and Brass I just needed to make brackets and modify the lower hose.

Not having a Automatic made it easier.

For fitment, I see no reason why it would not fit. In terms of how the truck core supports are designed, there is no difference made between the 2.7L and the 3.4L.

I think what you are seeing is how the various sellers handle the catalog data. Obviously they are not all doing it the same way but that has nothing to do with whether the part fits.
