I have a 1989 Toyota pickup. It is not a Hilux. It is an American model. I think they just call it the Toyota pickup. Which thread does my Frankenstein ass truck belong? It's not a Hilux or a Tacoma technically. Please help! I do plan to make this into a pretty rad build. I want to know which thread I can get the most help and advice. Thank you.

Is there a bad ass section? Cause that's where trucks like belong.

Love these trucks. My friend has a black '88 300,000 plus miles. And his dad has an '83 800,000 plus miles got it as a high school grad present still has it. Only changed the clutch and the water pump and a few belts every now and then.

800,000? Holy cow! I don't think I have ever heard of a vehicle getting that much love! This truck has around 299,700. Sooo close to the 300k mark. I got it around 5 years ago from my dad. It's actually my first car. It had its belts changed around 80k and we just recently replaced the clutch, as well as some bodywork as you can see on the picture. I'll admit, I have become quite attached to this little guy!

I bought my 1st new truck in September of 1989 off the showroom floor.(Schaumburg Toyota) (Schaumburg,Illinois)
$6400 out the door!i it was dark blue with no graphics. I wanted the Toyota check mark graphic but the salesman said they have a decal guy. I picked my design and the dealer had him come out and install it. The 89 4x2 22re 4 speed manual. Carbureted 4cyl. That things a beast.
I put 303,165.5 miles on it. I was a stupid kid and just added oil after 100,000 and never changed it.
Replaced the brakes at 124,000 miles. They grinded forever and then one day I came to a stop sign and came to a stop. I left off the brake pedal and heard "clink! Clink" the front pads wore so worn they fell off!
It was a tank. Drag racing at union grove Wisconsin every week! I put a true tube roll bar with hella off road lights. I miss that truck!!!!IMG_7546.jpgIMG_7548.jpg IMG_7545.jpg

You may not have a Tacoma badge but you're welcome to hang out here. Most of us have had old school/other Toyota's. I've had 6 Toyota's so far. 89 4runner, 97 4Runner, 94 Landcruiser, 05 Rav4, 02 Tacoma, and 05 Tacoma.
