    I got a 4wd tacoma

I got a flat tire and I have a tire warranty. So the dealer changed the flat tire with brand new tire.

should I change all four tires because the truck is 4wd?

i read some articles that it says changing only one tire can cause extra stress on 4wd drivetrain and cause immature wear and tear

How many miles and how much wear are on the 3 originals? Those are the biggest factors.

Oh and TW will defiantly cause immature wear and tear on your soul :D

This is usually an issue on AWD vehicles. (You taco is 4WD)

How worn are your other tires?

If the difference is severe, you could consider buying two and keeping them in the rear. How often do you use 4Wd?

Almost 30k mile on originals mostly highway miles.
I don’t need the 4wd really I only use it once a week to keep things lubricated drive straight line for couple of miles

I can tell you only the full time models have issues with this, and Toyota doesnt have many true AWD vehicles. IS350 is good example of a car that needs identical diameters.

Just leave it in the rear, rotate the other 3 and get your moneys worth.

My OEM tires ( Firestones ) lasted 15,000 miles with 3 rotations they were down to 4/32.
Put a set of Wildpeaks on and glad I did.

Your new tire is probably better than what's the spare is, so if I were you I'd buy a new set, and use that new one as the new-spare.

37s. Which requires a lift, a CMC, new UCAs and LCAs. Oooh ... and a snorkel!

What are your tread depths and why wasn’t the tire repaired.

4x and LSD means similar tread depths kept similar by doing tire rotations.

why patch it when it’s under warranty and you get can get a new tire for free?

because a free functional patch doesn’t mess up your diameter matching.

when people purchase new tires, it is typically all of them.

if I had even tread and somewhat used tires and got a new one in the right rear it would simply achieve the result of fucking up my mechanical LSD.

    Serious question.
I honestly don't know the answer too.

What do you when the TPMS uses the wheel speed sensor?
Can you reset the system to recalibrate the new "larger" tire?

I haven't delt with this type system. But always wondered.

1 tire new, 3 tires 50%-ish gone. Some would get 4 new and sell the other 3 for those who need spares. Not saying that is the ONLY way to handle it, just saying that mixed-age tires can be tricky.

WSS isnt on many trucks that I know of, so we've never had to deal with tire size variances. We just bump it past threshold and reset it.

I can only think of corolla and matrix that had it here. Canada its not law for TPMS, so 50% of models had it until recently. Still now, the Rav4 does not have it (they are canadian made)

    This is what I did.
I put the spare tire in front with the new tire. They both are new tires. And I have two old ones in rear with third old one on spare.
i won’t be rotating until I get all 4 new tires.

If you put the new ones in the back, theyll catch up (on wear) with the old ones... at which point you can resume your rotation normally
