Last week I had several times where my panic alarm went off. The last straw was when it went off at a rather inconvenient time and place. The button ends up getting pushed while it is in my pocket. I can't think of any reason where I would use the panic alarm. If I need a panic alarm I have some on my belt that have talons and weigh 230 grains each. So last night I disabled my key fob panic button.

What I tried first was to place a curved wire around the internal switch button. This increased the amount of pressure needed to get the alarm to go off. It is also reversible. However the panic button still worked. So I just went ahead and clipped off the nub off the back of the panic button. I left the curved wire around the internal button. Now even with a hard press the panic alarm does not go off.

I should have done this starting years ago to every key fob I have ever had.

Trucks can be like puppies. They bark and want to play all the time and at inappropriate times... kind of feel like you just neutered your truck. :(

Could have been excited just to see you.

I have never accidentally activated the panic alarm in any vehicle i’ve owned. I have activated the lock/unlock doors button. How much stuff do you carry in your pockets?

Funny, I was just talking to my boss about how annoying these buttons are in general. He says it only has to look at the panic button on his GM fob and it goes off.

My last straw happened Thursday night. I'm back to 95% motorcycle commuting now. I pulled into the garage, got off the bike, saw some garbage outside of the garage, walked over to it, bent to pick it up, and HONK HONK HONK HONK! I carry the truck/house keys in my motorcycle jacket and bending over pressed the damn button.

With my keys in my back pocket, I activate the panic quite frequently. It’s kind of annoying.

Hehe I bet that startled ya! I know it’s done that to me a few times hopping off the bike.

I imagine anyone watching me gets a good laugh.

The AJT fob helped but did not eliminate false alarms for me.

My PB fob has yet to get set off in my pocket, but I've only owned the truck for a couple of months. Should it happen, I will disable it too.
I'll use my powder horn as well, but I hope it never comes to that.

I came out of a store once and my truck was parked at the edge of the parking lot that happened To be near a bus stop. This lady was leaning against my front fender waiting for the bus. Let me just say she jumped about a foot in the air and probably enjoyed a wet-crotch bus ride to wherever she was going.

This is awesome and I will now NOT disable my PB as planned in case a similar opportunity ever presents itself...

The panic function can be disabled with the Carista app or TechStream. Turned mine of last year.

On a previous truck I was checking the serpentine belt when I leaned on the remote and hit the remote starter. Was able to get my arms out in time but scratched the shit outa them on the shroud. All I could do was lay on the ground and laugh in relief.

Keys now stay on the work bench

I have the same key. Never set off the panic button, but I've gone out in the garage to get in my truck and doors will be locked half the time.

Had a Nissan with a keyless entry fob. That bitch would set the alarm off damn near every day. Good thing I kept it in the garage, countless times I'd go out and the windows would be down. If you held the door unlock button long enough the windows would automatically go down.
