    i have about 2k to spend on all. i want 2-10" subs, i would like two small drivers in the rear doors, and seperates up front. my plans so far are;

JL10w1 for the subs ran by a rockford P300-1,

the mid bass is i dont know yet,

fronts will be JL refrence series and i am not sure of what size ran by Rockford P400-4.

will this be too much bass (im a bass head)? would you recomend other speakers?

my end design will need to make my ears bleed and scramble my brain.

my current car hits 142 db. with one hx12" rockford in the trunk, will this be louder or the same? if it is less i will be real disapointed.

will .78cf be too small for a speaker that calls for .88cf? in realistic terms.

i have searched speaker threads and none of them give actual Db's that their truck produces, i dont know if its cause they have had it done and are emberrased to tell or if no one has actualy had it done.

and lastly, best head unit for $800 (ebay price) and under, GPS,IPOD,Steering wheel control.

do the people at Best Buy even know what SPL stands for??? Last few times i was around the Best Buy car audio section, my 11 year old daughter knows more than they do. Maybe not all Best Buy's but a vast majority of them. And if i offend anyone on here who works at a Best Buy, sorry in advance, but the best buys and circuit city's of the world "made that bed."

I have done 148's with 2 12's in an SQ setup.(the pic in my avatar is that vehicle by the way) Cant see why you couldnt get 142's out of 2 10's. Might need to rethink your power though, and box design.

You will be hard pressed to get more than 142dB out of those two subs. To get close, 2 x 10W7's and a bigger amp., and a proper box.

    142 is impressive for a single 12". Took me 2 x 12's to get 144 dB.

In my old truck, 2x w1's only got me in the 130's. I was over 1 cu ft per sub sealed box... but I wasn't going for SPL in that setup.

i have a double cab. the box WILL be behind the seat, so not much you can do to the box. it will be what it will be. i could get a little more CF if i relocated my amps.

i dont think the 300-1 will be enough to move those 10s

First things first. What equipment do you have currently that will be going into the truck? Do you have those JL components?

For the subs, I agree, you'll need more than 300RMS on a pair of 10's to get that SPL level. I'd imagine your current Rockford is ported too so two sealed 10's on that power just wont do it.

What box are you looking at? What is the maximum mounting depth you could have for the subs?

i just installed 4 JL10w1's with a J2 1000.1 and a set of Focal comp. in my buddys chevy 1500. sounds grrrreat! go with a custom box. i make fiberglass boxes. they are not hard to do, they are light, and with alittle trial and error... looks awesome.
