While waiting for my new 13.5 kayak to be delivered, I figured I’d better figure out how I’m going to haul it in a 6 foot bed. Seems like a hitch mounted bed extender is the most common way to tackle this. Actually, the $60 Harbor Freight one looked a little wonky to me.....and I have some 2” square steel tubing left over from another project so I welded this up this morning and painted it this afternoon. It won’t store as easily as the fold up ones...but it’s a heck of a lot sturdier.

Great idea and nice work ! My first Tacoma was exactly like yours. I traded it for my current Tacoma at a Ford dealership in southwest NJ. Looks like you have a little lift installed on yours however. Nice truck.

I bought this from a private seller in Tennessee last month. It had a 2-3 inch lift on it. It’s a nice truck.

Probably woulda gone up at an angle from the receiver instead of straight out for multiple feet. Thats gonna drag, but it does look beef!
