    Good Evening TW Members !

I would like to find out from TW members their personal opinion and the general concenus of the best HID kit for our 3rd Gen Tacoma’s. I am in the deciding stage and my indecisiveness is kicking in. I have used the search engine. Please submit your vote and provide feedback below.

I went morrimoto. Hard to get an unbiased perspective because most only went with one company, there's no objective direct compassion

I am thinking about giving these a try. I saw that a couple of folks here on TW have had good success with them. Just do not remember where I read it. Probably in the lighting sub-forum.

Edit: Realized that you were looking for HID kits not LED. Sorry, not trying to de-rail your thread.

I just realized that after I re-read his original post that he was referring to HID kits. All good no worries. Reading is a skill, and I should read it the way it was written instead of what I thought I saw.

I have never run the LED for a headlight, but have run the HID. So was looking for something maybe a little different this time.

LOL. Even though my screen name has to do with mighty GLOCK :muscleflexing:; I am also a Sig fan, but as you stated; back to the HID conversation.

Sorry OP, not trying to thread jack.

I have the TRS/Morimoto 50W HID kit with 6500k bulbs. The 6500k bulbs look more like 5000k when run with a 50W ballast. I like them a lot. No shake/bounce after having them over a year and 30,000 miles.

Here are my results linked from the Morimoto Elite thread:

I was looking at these but after using the search engine and reading the other threads - LEDs can not produce the same throw to see so if I’m spending money to see better I want top of the line.

I only buy stuff on reviews and feedback. Thanks for your input

That is great feedback. You are correct on the Phillips bulbs with XD.

There was a known bounce with the original TRS / Morimoto kits correct based on reading the TRS Thread ?

I have used the search engine on multiple occasions and that was my first step, to get past the LED versus HID. I have successfully made that decision, now which HID Kit lol.

I started with a Morimoto kit about 9 months ago, although the bulbs have held up well, no bounce etc, I had 2 ballasts go bad in the first 6 months. About 3 months ago I switched the Hylux ballast, and so far they've held up fine and I've been using my lights a lot more being its winter.

Morimoto is a well respected company, but there were a lot of threads with the bulbs bouncing even after they sent out a fix. I went with hylux and can't be happier.

I was one of the few who had a GB for the morimoto HID kit in December .have those for my highs. No complaints there .Xenon Depot I bought for my lows I enjoy both kits but I like having the white crisp color of 5500 xenon offered were as my highs are a hint of blue from morimoto .no problems with either of them.

Do you have a link to buy the hylux kit? Also does it include the relay for the xenondepot kit?

They came out with a higher density bulb seals/grommets that helped. I really think the bounce is in the headlight housing more than the bulb, and some people are more affected by the bounce than others. My 2017 Tacoma has no issues and I've "looked" for the bounce and can't see it. YMMV.

Noted. Good to know. I’ve been leaning toward hylux which they have a GB for 110 or XD
