To be clear, I'm talking about using an external ram to assist the steering, not full hydraulic.

Why have I not seen this mod on tacomas? Am I not looking hard enough or Is it because the power steering in the tacoma is adequate even with larger tires or possibly because it doesn't work with the way the steering it setup?

Has anyone done this? I'm not seeing any posts on here.

You’re asking if anyone has added a second hydraulic assist steering ram to their truck with IFS suspension?

I hate using tw on my phone.

Sorry for the confusion, I just realized a chunk of my initial post was missing. I just updated the first post.

A combination of all the above. A tundra rack with aftermarket outter components is way less work and handles everything from LT desert raced Tacoma’s on 35’s to LT rock crawlers on 37’s and bigger. Plus the hydro assist racks work off redirecting fluid from the steering gear to the ram to gain the extra strength, they require a larger total fluid volume and a higher flow aftermarket GPM pump. Idk how you’d make a hydro assist ram work in conjunction with a steering rack or an IFS steering knuckle and TBH, it probably wouldn’t even be worth the effort because of the above mentioned tundra racks being a tried and true solution. Some desert raced trucks have totally custom steering but we’re talking tube chassis really custom built trucks where money and time aren’t an issue.
