How many of you use your rig to go hunting? If so how do have it set up? I’m an avid duck hunter and am looking for ideas on how I can keep my gear organized on my truck.

My stuff's usually just in bags anyway, so that's where it stays.

if you have passengers I'd get a shell or some totes

Also, I'm not a duck hunter

so I don't know what you pack around

The big things I pack are my seat and my decoys. Thinking about possibly making a single drawer so I can have my decoys in there but idk yet we will see

Decoys seem like they belong in the bed to me

I just keep everything in totes. Toss them in bed when going, pull them when done. No real set up.

I have a Tonneau cover for the bed and keep my gear in a sled and a deer cart for retrieval of game. Also truck recovery gear. Clothes and other gear remain in the back seat.

Duck hunters could keep decoys, blind in a Jet Sled, container under tonneau cover as well. Lock your tailgate.

exactly what I do. That JetSled is essentially a poor man's decked system!

FIFY  Those decked drawers aren't gonna go retrieve a deer!
I use 2 jetsleds under my plywood bed platform as drawers, and deer sled when needed.

While not hunting, it could easily be used for hunting too. Bed bars level with top rails, skinny basket on 1 side holds 4 plano trunks (put your decoys in there), you could bolt gun cases to the other side to hold riffles, or put another basket for more plano trunks.
But it leaves the inside of the bed open for the rest of your gear.

When fire season ends I go straight into hunting and guiding for six months. I keep loose items in labeled totes, separated by category. That way I can just grab the totes I need depending on the hunt, weather, client, etc. I keep totes and cooler against the tailgate, bigger items close to the cab, and items I don't want soaked if I encounter inclement weather go inside the cab. Not a set up, but a well functioning system so I keep the full bed open for other uses.

I use a soft topper and I built a drawer system with a livestock mat on top. Decoy bag or cooler can just sit on it and then since the softtopper isn't secure the lockable drawers have recovery gear/camping gear and can fit a rifle or shotgun easily. There is also molle on the back and sides of the bed for strapping stuff to.

I use a jet sled instead of a deer cart to drag game out and it’s awesome. It glides over everything. More people should use them. I never thought of using them as drawers. That’s a great idea man.

I’ve been going back and forth between a decked set up and soft topper, or alucab/rsi for the new truck. The soft topper would be nice if I load the cart up and secure a jet sled with the decoys. On the other hand the price of the decked system and soft topper starts to get close-ish to a nice shell.

I just chuck my stuff in the back of the truck, it comes with me when I’m hunting so there’s no need to overthink how it looks back there driving from a to b.

Custom, only one ever designed and built interiors, heavily welded frame, all sharp metal turned bed rack and a roof top I made for $75. Power pedal, injen intake system, cat delete, summit racing brake proportioning valve controlled on the fly, slightly adjusted or perhaps unrecognizable ECM, built in under bed storage, high clearance rear built with 1/4" on a 6011 1/8" rod at 120 amps, 360 degrees of led light, a PA and CB, on board air, on board propane (to cook food), on board fridge made from an old red bull fridge found on some guys man cave built into the storage cubby under the back seat, imported tranny and clutch from a good friend over in Europe to replace this aisin junk we get, combined 32 gallons fuel capacity, 18 5 gallons of water storage, built in gun locker under RTT, and all it cost was to hear the wife ramble on about upset neighbors at 2 in the morning every night since I bought that damn truck..
Oh son, best take a seat and buckle up. Ur in for a treat! If ur as die hard for that goldeneye, harlequin or perfect pintail, and yet ur broke as fuck, u either get creative and think outside the box or u give that lab away and sell ur 870. For example, and the honorable judge Smith from City of Binghamton, NY and a certain ECO who's name I won't mention will readily affirm, my buddy and I were both driving tacos. And both were broke down. We had a trailer designed around Bigfoot goose decoys that could offload onto a flatbed taco if u had another trailer (I wish I had pics but I know the sheriffs office still does) at any rate, we needed to figure how to move an 18 foot bright red canoe we liberated from our good buddy Joe, about 4 dozen avian x duck decoys, Two black labs and two idiots both wearing camo waders facepaint the works not to mention 2 trusty ol 870 super mags... in a 1992 cavalier teal green with no ratchet straps. Long story short, we had a Sawzall. We cut the back doors and seat out, canoe side ways like big red wings and a facepainted duck hunter with a 28 inch barrel next to him for support as he served as my mirrors. Did we succeed? Yes. Did we bag our limit? Better than most. Was it the most memorable hunting trip? Pretty close, even our dogs were in the back seat with handcuffs. Would we do it all again? Fuck yeah bcuz that's intensity. Moral of this crazy rant, is if u don't see any thing on the internet that u see in ur mind, that means u stand a chance to be the first to come up with that original idea. Don't just think outside the box, act on those thoughts outside the box and do it. FYI, after hunting waterfowl from the PNW to the Atlantic and literally everywhere in between, NY state is the only state I've ever been arrested for going duck hunting. Albeit when I asked my buddy if there was anybody behind me he said no, but speed up. Good times.
