Besides suspension/lifts and crap like that, what have you guys done to your Tacos that aided in hunting trips? Like gun racks, bed storage, lighting, etc

Good tires and chains, shovel, chainsaw and associated recovery gear. I also pack a portable jump start pack and tire plug kit. Truck doesn't really need a whole bunch of mods. Good skid plates are also wise.

canopy and tires mainly. the other stuff such as a shovel, tow strap, flat repair, are just carry-overs from my prior truck. i do not think mods are needed.

i have often found the less further i drive when i reach my hunting area, and park closer to the asphalt road, the better i do. if its a roadless area, i also tend to walk-in further from most others so quite honestly, i really do not need a truck with mods to reach my hunting destinations. i often hunt with a guy that drives a hyundai kona and he folds down the back seat.

i do not use a gun rack and just leave them in the case in the back. as for storage, nothing special other than a tote or two depending on where i am going and what i am hunting. i have no additional lights other than a head lamp. if i am camping, i have a latern.

good luck, and don't over-think it.

Guys who get paid to hunt put full over the cab rack and put platform up there. About the only mod they need except a steady rest and a tarp to wrap the dead and haul to processor

Some kind of bed cover for your gear, unless it all fits in the cab, but still nice to have shade if the weather gets warm, and you’re just field dressing and running to meat locker.

What kind of hunting? I have a back seat cover they sell for pets that is waterproof for the dog.I want to eventually get a soft topper to keep stuff (wader, decoys, ect) from flying out of bed, and to keep stuff dry(er). Small box for some tools, zip ties, duct tape, extra ratchet binders, bungees, and tow rope. Also probably will put some of those backup lights like the offroad guys use so i can see the boat and stuff at 0 dark thirty at some unimproved launches. I just got my tacoma last year and only hunted a bit from it for turkey season, and to run up camp for a little deer hunting. This will be it's first full waterfowl season, as my son was off on overseas deployment, so I sat it out, since we hunt waterfowl together. I just started getting the duckboat out and ready, but after being pretty disappointed with it towing my two kayaks on a little kayak trailer up the mountains this weekend, I am wondering how it's going to do with the boat. We may have to use his Ram instead. It made a great little rig for turkey, but I have a feeling I will be looking at a tundera soon.

Real A/T tires, not those silly Highway "Kevlar" tires Toyota puts on the Of Road!

I thought driving an automatic is the hunting mod.

Sorry, I got confused between mod and mode.

I have the Eibach lift, BFG MTs, light bar, and a toolbox with all my everyday Nick nacks. All that helps in my hunting endeavors in their own little way, but the simplest, cheapest, and easiest thing I’ve done that pays dividends while “afield.” I bought the bed light kit from a fellow member/vendor on the classifieds. I cannot tell you the amount of times this has come in handy while grabbing things out and placing things in the back of my truck in low light situations. Not only hunting, just anytime, but obviously it’s mainly while on my hunting adventures.

    Milk crates. I'm serious.

A decade ago, the exchange on Base near me closed and i got like 50 Milk crates.

I put stuff in them, i stack them up and stand on them. I strap them together upside down and put balls in them to make a raft. Really, you can do a lot with milk crates.

Strap one to a tree next to you, to hold your beer, or coffee.

Just use your imagination, i had one on the back seat of my motorcycle and one on the handlebars. The possibilities are endless!

They stack up in the bed, or the back seat really well too. Ammo cans fit in there, really helps to organize small items.

This is how I hauled deer in my focus. I quarter the animal in the field. So, I have a nice set of game bags and a cooler that will fit a whitetail quartered.
I recommend getting some type of hard bed cover for your stuff. Like mentioned above, recovery gear and a jump starter.
Also, nice hard sided bow/rifle case. I use a Lakewood bowcase that I like.
I keep a tool bag in my truck with extra batteries, Biodegradable TP, cough drops, and other various things I run out of and can have at the truck.
