So, I am in the primal stages of doing some research and I am trying to figure out what would stop me from using Humvee M998 wheel/tire take-offs on my 3rd gen Tacoma... The only thing I see is the obvious 37" wheel and the 8lug conversion that would be required to run em to even begin with, anything else? 00J0J_ajlDNtKntjS_600x450_cf3fbe5f8a1c8a7844bf6282b8c53089ec421337.jpg

I'm curious to see this work. I thought about going to Black Rhino wheels for this look but decided against the weight. That said, I think you'll need to upgrade the brakes. Maybe the hubs, spindle, LCA, UCA and flares as well?

Maybe dropping the tire size might help alleviate the weight concern, from what I'm reading, its about 130-160lb a wheel/tire

Also, I've yet to see anyone running M998 wheels on a 3rd gen

I've never heard of anyone running them, but I love the idea of it. Dropping tire size will help, but breaking 100lbs a corner will still require better brakes, especially if you tow or add body armor IMHO.

HMMWV uses portal axles for ground clearance and strength. Once you hit the gas you'd be done.

well you'd need a lot of weld/patch work on the frame and all new steering and suspension just to handle the weight of those things...that is if you want to drive it past the parking lot

I'd be easier, and probably cheaper to put a Tacoma body on a Hummer frame and running gear.
