what would cause a constant humming vvvvvvvvvvvvvvibration at anything above 60 mph, that goes away when you turn right? swapped tires from left to right, no change. Replaced front right wheel bearing, No change. Still does it in 4wd. Does it in neutral, does it off throttle, on throttle. always does it. It is directly speed related, and goes away when you turn right, and I can only notice it above 60. Almost seems ever so slightly worse when just coasting. Im so sick of vibrations that nobody seems to have a fix for. Planning on pulling the driveshaft soon. Probably going to the dealer for a trans flush, (depending on how they do it). Possibly going to replace the TCC lock up solenoid. I just don't know what do do with this thing. I now have direct speed related vibes, direct rpm related vibes and anything over 3000 rpms (even just revving, makes me think of a fan spinning with one blade broke off) , engine load + lockup shudder vibes between 1500 and 2200 rpms. Everything I read is a dead end that never has a solution. Read thread after thread after thread and get a lot of try this or try that, but no one ever has a solution. The threads just end. I like my truck, but I hate driving it because of all this stupid vibration that I cant seem to find a fix for. its all just vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv type humming/droning vibration. No shakes or shimmies. Been to a general mechanic, a trans shop, and the dealer. Nobody knows. its so so so frustrating. btw, its a 2011 trd sport dclb with 80k on it. Not lifted, all stock.

    Wheel Bearing perhaps?

I don't know wheel bearings well but I seem to recall hearing that turning in the direction of the failing wheel bearing makes it stop making noise... or the exact opposite. Forget which.

Most common vibration in these trucks is the Needle Bearing in the front diff. But that stops in 4WD.

Imo, you should always replace both wheel bearings at the same time, especially in instances like yours.

I noticed you said you replaced the right wheel bearing, and also that is stopped when turning right. That usually would indicate a bad left wheel bearing.

I always thought the opposite. Turning right shifts the weight to the left, unweighting the right, therefore it gets quiet.

This is something that i always get confused with as well, but i thought preloading the bearing, by steering in the opposite direction would make it more quiet. Surely there is someone here that has more knowledge than us.

maybe I should just order one and do it myself just to find out. I had a shop do my other one, because I swore that was the problem.. And I had a road trip coming up, and I hadn't driven very far on it since it had started, and didn't have time to do it before the road trip.. and was worried about it grenading. Well, it didn't fix it, and it didn't grenade.. haha. But I may order one and try to do it myself for the experience.

I do the ones on my wife's car, but haven't had to replaced the truck yet. Fmy tires are kind of loud though, so it is possible that it makes noise. Spring I'm doing preventative maintenance and should be close to 90-100k.

Which bearing was it ? Could you turn in the direction of the bad bearing and it stop?

The fact is hat there is no change when I put in 4wd and it goes away when I turn, turns me away from the needle bearing..

You might as well change the wheel bearing on the other side to eliminate that from the equation and for piece of mind. If one is bad at 80k miles, you can expect the other is due soon, if not now and possibly causing your issues.

I just don’t know that the one I changed was even bad. Symptoms pointed to it, but changing it didn’t fix it. I’m really at a loss with a bunch of stuff to where all I can do is just try something until maybe I find the problem

any clue as to if anything adjusted in a front end alignment would all the sudden cause a rotational speed vibration? kinda wondering if the needle bearing may be playing a role here, But it still does it in 4wd. But,,, driving straight and turning left leaves less weight on the drivers side needle bearing, allowing for the slop... Turning right, weights it more.. also compresses the suspension more.. and In essence could push the axle into the bearing harder, stopping the slop, and stopping the vibe.. but I don't know. I just don't know what else it could be

Have you tried it in reverse? Turn your wheel all the way to the right and just go in circles in reverse, and do the same with the wheel all the way to the left. If there popping or vibration, could be something beside wheel bearing, but if you turn it all the way to the right and go in reverse and hear it more, the. Its like the left bearing or axle or something, trying it in reverse will give you a good result.

My truck recently started doing the same thing! I have an 06, 75k miles and It progressively got worse over about 3 weeks.

Right at 60 mph+ the vibration and “hum” becomes almost louder than my radio. When I bare right or turn right at that speed, It completely disappears, then reappears as I straighten my wheels. I do feel vibration in my steering wheel a tad tho.

Please let me know the fix as soon as u can, It’s driving me nuts
