I wanted to change up the intake so I went with a blue HPS silicone short ram intake. It also has a heat shield but for what i paid I'm happy. Better throttle response too

The piping for a cold air intake is not much more tucked towards the ground so it pulls hot air as well. I left the bottom half of the stock air filter on below the cone bc there's a tube that's pulling air from the wheel well

Cold air intakes for our truck seal to the hole in the fender well pulling ambient air.

98% of the air you are drawing in with that setup is all air being heated by the motor. I guarantee you are not getting anything coming from the stock tube.

    Just trying to help.

im not sure about the 4 banger, but a k&n intake on a 2nd gen v6 (shit filter imho) still draws ambient air at the same speed stock does approx 40mph......yet looks like wut u would call a hot air intake

That's why you go with the fully enclosed aFe.

Seems like all CAI are pretty useless. Good money making scam though. "Adds 16 HP!!!" should read "makes rumbly noise when you step on it!!"

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Turn the piping and take air from the cowl.

With my experience with after market air intake is no matter how much you wrap it with "heat resistant wrap" or an In-closed box they all pull hot air. How could a motor not gain any sort of power from any kind of intake its pulling more air in which means more power.. Right?
