I have a TRD Sport with a manual transmission. I turned off the 'traction control' using the button by the sunglasses compartment on the roof. The traction light off comes on along with AUTO LSD. When I try and goof around (just snowed here) there are still sensors kicking in straightening the truck out.

I was just trying to goof around doing donuts in a parking lot and could barely do anything because of all these damn sensors kicking in. Is there something else I am missing or is this constantly on?

    Thanks in advance!
    Nick

And if the third gens are like the seconds, you can't be moving when you do it either.

Don't need to be in neutral. Works in any shifter position. Read the manual.

Going 0mph. HOLD DOWN the button with the skid marks on it. Holding it down will turn off STABILITY control in addition to fully disabling traction control.

Merely tapping the button just temporarily shuts off TRACTION control until you reach some nominal speed (20mph or so).

For future curiosities, the manual is online and super easy to just Ctrl + F to find whatever you're wanting to know
    That's what I typically do.

Just came across this thread trying to figure out how to keep the Auto LSD of. I tried all kinds of things while holding the button. It would turn off the system but my truck would still straighten out. And then eventually the lights cut off even under 20 mph. Am I missing something?

Hold down the button for like 5 seconds when the truck is stationary.

I tried that it says it’s off but still won’t let me have any fun. Then the lights just turn back off after a bit.

    Doesn’t work.

Tried it. Stopped in neutral held down the button for 5-10 seconds...

    TRAC off appears.

I launched nicely, then it pulls power around 4,000rpm, backed off, got back on it... hit the 1-2 shift and it cut power.

My girl in her Subaru Crosstrac was hounding my Tacoma. 3 red lights in a row.

    .. this is weak toyota

So far, the only way to truly disable it is to come to a stop and hold in the button. Sucks but it's the only way I've found. Plus you gotta do it again if you shut the truck off.

    I drive a Miata.
Have you ever toasted a trans? I did once. On my 21st birthday I bought myself my first 4x4. Then, not knowing shit about how four wheel drive works I went free-spinning in mud. The seals melted, trans fluid escaped, muddy water replaced the fluid, and the shift bands apparently grenaded and caused all kinds of carnage. I had to have both trans and transfer replaced on a truck that didn't even have its first oil change yet.

I'm guessing Toyota is trying to prevent us from doing that. I disagree with them. We should have the right to be that stupid if we wanted to.

Getting out of my work parking lot requires me to set this up most days 4 months out of the year. Plow only has one place to stack snow it melts during the day but is frozen by the time I leave, leads downhill, then coming out of the lot is a tiny uphill. Roads are often completely dry, but I start out in ice for maybe 3 feet. 4wd is no good because then I'll be turning hard on dry pavement.

Trac killing engine power is flat out dangerous in this situation. Rear wheel hits a touch of ice as you're pulling into the intersection kills engine power and you're sitting there on dry pavement, pedal to the floor just waiting to get hit. I turn it off every day out of habit now.
