I was towing this weekend and one way I minimize the sloppy rear end due to already mushy TSB springs is to add 10lbs to the rear tires. The BFG A/T I have on there can go up to 50lbs, so 45lbs is no problem, but the stupid idiot light is on and cannot be reset because the tire pressure is not within the limits set by Toyota.

Anyone know what the limits are to keep the light off? Anyone know how to change the limits or override them?

    Google is your friend...

How to Reset a Low Pressure Light in a Toyota Tacoma
    1. Park the vehicle on level ground. ...
    2. Check the pressure in all four tires to make sure they are inflated to the proper pressure. ...
    3. Start the vehicle.
    4. Locate the TPMS reset button to the left of the steering column. ...
    5. Press the reset button and hold it until the TPMS warning light on the instrument panel blinks three times.

Not sure if that will help with a high pressure issue.
Honestly I didnt even realize the TPMS light will go off if the pressure is above a certain level.

I think it would work with high pressure also.

Yeah, I read the manual and performed the reset. Everything I read says the light should only go on when the pressure is below the limit, yet mine is above and the light won't reset. Do all 4 tires need to be the same because the fronts are lower than the rears?...

Since you have a '07, you have a TPMS sensor in the spare. Have you checked the spare?

I dont think theres an alarm for differences in tire pressure, its probably just overpressure that is triggering the light. Im sure they programmed it that way since overpressure usually comes from the tires being way too hot, which might indicate a very serious issue. I'm not sure how or even if it can be reprogrammed.

The easy fix is a square of electrical tape on the dashboard... :cookiemonster:

The light came on immediately after filling my rear tires, so it's doubtful it's the spare (which I have filled before for this issue).

Yeah, I replaced all my LEDs, should have just left off the TPMS one, but it saved my ass in the desert once, so I want it working.

So, I put a Mastertech tester on the truck and it says my #4 sensor is dead. I guess filling the tires too much did it in? Anyone replace their TPMS sensors? OReilly has one that's $54 but the Schraeder version is only $35 which makes more sense.

If you replace them, you still have to get the system reset for the truck to recognize the new sensor. And unfortunately since your truck is an 07 the other sensors are probably on their last legs as well. The batteries are only rated for 7-8 years and non-replaceable. If you really still want the system then you'll probably be looking at replacing all 5 which is about $300 out the door where I work. Which is why I just overrode the system in my truck and put rubber stems in. Just my 2 cents though.

How did you get rid of the warning light?

I have the tool that can reset the system to recognize the new sensors, but you make a good point about the age of the sensors. I guess I'll just remove the LED from the dash :(. Can you explain what "overrode the system" means in your comment?

This is what I did for mine being a 2013, it might be a little different on the 05-11's. But there are a few threads on here about it, and the concept is the same. The light on the dash operates by having a constant signal sent to it. This mod makes it always receive power so it never comes on regardless of what the tpms system is actually saying. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2012-tpms-light-disabled.284690/

I just checked the electrical diagram for my 2007 and the blue and red wires are the same as in this mod. Not sure if I'm that frustrated with the light yet, but probably will be after a few weeks.

It sounds like more work than it is, I promise. The hardest part is taking the dash apart, but even that's pretty easy. Just be careful with all the plastic tabs. Some of the instructions say you can just take off the HVAC controls, but I had to pop the radio out as well. I couldn't fit my hands in otherwise, or maybe my module was just buried a little further down.

What if you have some stock rims for snow with four new sensors, but still have the stock sensor on the spare?

As long as the new sensors are the right ones for the truck and the stock one isnt dead, they can be programmed to work together. You would just need it to be reset again with your non snow wheels. Basically reset each time you swap rims. The truck is only capable of having the factory number of sensors paired to it at any one time.
