Well I have a 1999 SR5 and I recently hit a wall going about 20 mph and it damaged the front bumper and side marker. I already fixed the side marker but I had a friend of mine take it down to a shop for me to get it looked at and the guy told him that the bumper will obviously need replaced along with the "bracket tree" is he referring to the bracket mounts holding up the bumper assembly or what? I have never heard of that term but that is what I am assuming. I am going to be fixing it myself and I was wandering if you guys know how to take apart the bumper. I am pretty sure the bracket mounts is what the guy was talking about considering at the ends of the bumper it looks like the bumper is hanging there but it is the brackets probably being warped from the impact. Thanks

Do you know how many bracket pieces there are that hold up the bumper? I am doing some research and I see things like bracket retainer, bracket side support, and reinforcement bracket. Is that it? Or are there other pieces I am missing?

I think there are one bolt each side in the corners and two bills on each mount for the right and left bumper brackets. If I remember correctly. So like 6 bolts altogether

cant you just look under your truck? c'mon dude make a little effort here.

also if you look at my video, it shows the bumper support brackets along with the frames bumper mounting brackets that were bent back causing an alignment issue with my bumper.

if you hit a wall at 20mph then you might have frame damage and for certain you bent your frame bumper mounting brackets too and they will need to be cut off and new ones welded on or the bumper will never fit straight.

if you look, it should be easy to see if its straight or bent back on yours.

its near impossible to just tell you what you need when we don't know whats bent or broken on your truck

not trying to be an ass here but we don't know what your truck damage looks like so help us with some pictures of whats damaged.

what about the grille and radiator? a/c condenser? was it just the bumper and nothing else was damaged? 2omph is a hell of an impact even if it doesn't have bent body panels there can be unseen damage to things.

maybe instead of bracket tree he was saying bracketry as in the bumper support brackets on that side or maybe he meant the welded on frame bumper bracket.
