Sadly my truck did not get delivered before the first real snow and the roads have since been salted. I plan on having the frame woolwaxed as soon as possible but noticed that salt is already beginning to stick to the frame. I plan on scrubbing down the frame before taking it into the shop to have it woolwaxed professionally. What is the best way to get this done? I have seen some suggestions for products like salt off etc. Or would just some dawn dish soap be best? A lot of these salt off washes claim to leave a protective film, will this impact the wool wax adhering? Lastly I would have to drive on the roads slightly to get to the place that does wool wax. I would assume he would spray the frame off a bit before hand but for fear of trapping in salt would it be better to wait until spring and just keep on top of washing my frame weekly? I won’t be driving it a ton in winter as I do have a daily. I’m a bit over the top when it comes to preserving my vehicles so any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Rust is caused by water and oxygen
Woolwax will displace both of those (primarily the water)

hose it all off, with warm water if possible, and then get it down there to be treated, it will be fine

Call the professional service you'll be using, and ask what their pre treatment prep process is.

If they're not properly cleaning it, they aren't very professional are they?

Then hang around and watch them do it.

I went through exactly what you're dealing with when I first got my truck. Trust me, you'll have no issues giving the undercarriage a good spray and undercoating. After 4 years, my frame is still completely rust-free. I put Fluid Film on every year, and yeah, it gets pretty messy with dirt and grime caked on there. I'm actually due for this year's application - just need to give the undercarriage a good rinse first before putting on a fresh coat of Fluid Film.
