Have you been looking for the right solution to mounting a full size spare in your bed? Look no further. I have taken 5 minutes out of my day to piece together two links so any member can purchase the proper parts to mount a full size spare tire in their bed. This is my Y-Strap solution for Tacoma’s short bed and long bed’s. With many owners upgrading their tires to larger sizes, the stock location is too small to hold the upgraded tire size. Many Tacoma owners believe that they NEED to pay for an extended swing out whether it is mounted in the hitch or on an aftermarket bumper. In my opinion, you always want to be able to have a full size spare on the trail.

I have attached a photo below another member posted that shows how the tire will be mounted

    how much does it cost?
All of this can be yours for $87.71 plus shipping. What a steal. Much cheaper than the “competition”

I'll take it one step further. Throw a jack stand under the wheel and boom, prerunner style.

Another alternative that’s essentially free. Some Toyota tie down points and a single strap. Boom, secured.

Mods are currently being changed .....

Did you drill a new hole for the single strap up front? I've been experimenting w/ how I want to mount mine in the bed and I'm going to lay it flat vs standing or angled.

If you have a camper and can’t see out the back anyway, sure. Otherwise you’re other setup is way better, imho

Or if you like any useable bed space. With the spare angled, there isn't dick for room for camping gear.

It's brilliantly simple. Sometimes a secondary strap over the top is required depending on the type of wheeling you're doing.

Been running this spare setup for a long time now. No issues, love it. & it only takes a few minutes to get the spare out of the bed.

I know this thread is old, but are all of you guys still using this strap method? If so, how's it holding up? Any room for improvement? Thanks in advance.
