How to make your own rubber mud flaps. It will last the life of your vehicle.

You will need only 1 semi truck mud flap for both rears.

You can buy at O'Reilly store or Napa Auto Parts store. I prefered the ones from O'Reilly because it has a design showing on the back which i like.

    Basic tools needed.

Dimensions for rear mud flaps I used are:
12 2/16 X 15 inches, you can do whatever size you like.

I just cut them rectangle and whatever size I wanted.

You can figure out the shape and size you want using a cardboard, or a plastic mud flap that you previously used to outline the shape.

To mark the holes for the screws you can use previously used tacoma mud flap or a carboard. If using a carboard first cut the cardboard to the shape and size youre using and than mark the screw holes on the cardboard, to use as a guide to where the holes will be going on the rubber mud flaps.

You can use the factory fender screws. I didn't used them because they don't have a strong hold.

If you want you to use bolts like me you have to remove the square-bodied round-headed grommets that hold the screws. It was a kind of hard to remove them, so I used "cutting pliers" to break them in pieces and remove them...

I used grade 8 bolts (only black bolts I found) together with washers and rubber well nuts.

The length and thickness of the bolts doesn't matter as long as they fit in the hole and their not too long or too short.

I just tight them by hand, holding the bolt with one hand and rotating the rubber well nut with the other hand.

Lost my factory bolts long ago. Happen to know what size those bolts are and what size you used for the long ones? Good write up! Tired of all the mud and road splatter all over my truck.

This is a good idea. Can’t go wrong with the amount of time and price for this one.
