    Hey all,

This may be a super nit-picky problem I have but when I disconnect Apple Carplay/Android Auto, the audio source turns off. Also if I shut my truck off and get back in without plugging in my phone the audio is off as well. I go back and forth between Carplay and bluetooth depending on how long I'll be driving, and have gotten tired of the couple button pushes and seconds it takes to swap each time. After driving a rental (nissan sedan), I noticed it would switch to bluetooth automatically if my phone wasn't plugged in and I thought it was pretty slick. Anyone looked into this?

Carplay is so nice... the native Toyota software is so horrible. What happens to me is I have something playing on my phone (a podcast or whatever). When i turn the car on 'Audio' is off, but the bluetooth connects with my phone, and continues playing the podcast. But of course I can't hear it because audio is off. By the time I can turn Audio/Blutooth on, I've missed 30 seconds or more of the podcast. So dumb.

I jumped through hoops to get Carplay to work and now I'm jumping through hoops to get rid of it.

I think the interface stinks, and it goes in and out and in and out and won't stay connected.

I hate apple products the only reason I got one was some family plan deal with IPhones.

Not sure which OEM stereo you have but mine (SR5 Entune+) remembers the last source and goes back to it after the truck is off.

That's what you're looking to have happen right?

So that is what happens with mine as well, but if I'm playing Apple Carplay and then unplug the cord, it will turn the audio off. Similarly, if I am playing Carplay when I shut the truck off, then get back in and don't want to plug my phone in, the audio defaults to being off until you switch modes to bluetooth. Other vehicles will default to bluetooth if Carplay isn't connected. I was really just wondering if this was possible to set up on the OEM Tacoma head unit.

Hey all, Anyone having issues (or luck resolving) CarPlay disconnecting (although it's plugged into USB) randomly or when you move your phone around? It's super frustrating. Thanks.

It sounds like a loose connection to me.

I switched to a real Apple Cable and the issues went away. I'd love to disable car-play completely but like a bad rumor it keeps coming back.

Warning then to anyone considering it, once this thing gets turned on there's apparently no going back.

My 2020 offroad with carplay is solid as a rock. I have buzzing in my phone calls, but I also have buzzing in my phone calls via BT and any iphone I try. Typically moving an iphone and it disconnecting is a cable issue or iphone port issue. Most likely the cable.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I've been using an Apple cable from day one. Maybe it's screwed up in some way. I'll consider replacing it or just switching over to bluetooth as my default.
    Cheers!
