Hello... I recently had a set of air lift suspension bags installed in my double cab Tacoma. They have a compressor attached that maintains steady pressure, but unfortunately the installers set it up so that the compressor will run occasionally when the truck is parked and no key is in the ignition. They said that it was tied to the ignition, but I think they don't know their way around the new Tacoma fuse box because I hear it out in the driveway running in the middle of the night for a second or two here and there. I'm hoping someone can tell me where to connect the power supply line so that it won't run unattended and drain my battery. Thanks for any help!

I tied mine into the circuit for the lights. That way if I don't want it to adjust while I am loading my trailer, I just leave the ligts off. When I am ready to go, I just flip the lights on, do my light check, and it is aired up and ready.
It also gets them aired up when I use my remote start since the light circuit turns on.

All you would need is a relay strong enough to handle the power. I would say about a 40 amp relay. The relay has 4 prongs. One is power in from battery, another pin is power to the compressor, One pin is ground, the last pin (using a 4 prong relay) is used to tap a power source only on when the key is on. A cigarette lighter works nicely. This acts like a remote switch and will only give it power when the key is on.

They installed it to piggyback on a 10 amp fuse, so I could move it to a different location. I like the lights idea, was this done in the fuse box or with a relay setup? I guess my challenge is figuring out where I can move the fuse without causing problems. I do like the idea of having it on the cigarette lighter circuit as well.

I would do the cigarette lighter personally. I am assuming they used an add a fuse which taps into the circuit and feeds a relay. If this is the case you can just move to say the cigarette lighter location or the headlights, parking lights. Whichever.

Thanks for the tips. Is there some place that has PDFs with a legend/diagram for the fuse box? I did some searching but didn't seem to find any that seemed to match the 2014.

I did exactly what 2000GTacoma said. Add a fuse feeding a relay control side. Relay power side running from my distribution block with an inline fuse.

Well, I tried putting the add-a-fuse on the headlight fuse but for some reason it promptly blew the fuse. These things are starting to become a royal pain. I want to run a switch to the cab but I'm not sure where to begin.

I really hope they are not drawing all the power through an add a fuse. If they are they way to much. If it was feeding a relay it should not have blown the headlight fuse. Can you get some pictures of the compressor, the add a fuse, and maybe an under hood view? It's hard to see what is going on over the internet. If I could put my hands on it I could probably tell you what is wrong.

Really hard to tell what they have going on without actually seeing it in person.
