Just wanted to bump this. Do not get the one from Rockauto...it is just the outside casing. Wish I read closer at the details. I just purchased one from the dealer. I read the Amazon reviews for the aftermarket one linked by the OP but after reading a lot of the reviews of it not working, I decided to just pony up.

Only way to really know is to check via the instructions by the OP.

    Great write up!

I took a chance on mine and ordered the after market one about a year ago and it’s been working great. I didn’t look to see if the box was there beforehand :anonymous:

I don’t think so, but you can give it a try.

Thank you nchiker for the great write up. I have an '03 Prerunner. After physically checking that I had the RS3200 unit, I ordered an aftermarket key fob. It worked! For this aftermarket unit I had to follow the instructions on www.keyfobprogram.com, which are the same as OP's directions up until Step 7 Program Remote.

    Product link : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011RZ16Z4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8

At Step 7, these are the instructions

    http://www.keyfobprogram.com/2003-toyota-tacoma-remote-programming/

    Within 40 second,
    A. Press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1.5 seconds.
    B. Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, press and hold the lock button by itself.
Within 10 seconds, the door locks should lock and then unlock once indicating successful programming.
(If the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps A and B in step 6 as the remote was not accepted)
Repeat steps A and B in step 6 for each new remote.

    Open drivers door.

I'm assuming this works if I need to replace my remote battery too?

You mean the programming sequence? If that's what you're talking about, I wouldn't think you'd need to reprogram it after replacing the battery. The sequence should just be for new remotes.

Yeah, thankfully I didn't have to do that.

What else does the 3200 support? Does it have a way to turn on security? My 2011 has key fob locks but no security other than the electronic chip key.

Anyone know where to get the RS3200 unit from and whether it's plug and play?

I dont have the unit on my '02 Canadian DC and dont see a spare harness that it might plug into..

I have an aftermarket remote keyless and started but it doesn't work. No fob and no serial number that I can see..

To my knowledge there no security feature, only keyless entry. But I’m no expert. If you find out differently update the thread for us!

If you have electric locks, it may be plug and play. If not, not a chance.

    I do have e-locks

Found this part number RS 3200 Kit: 08586-2D860-AA

Fits a Celica, poster says that they have had success with using different modules from different toyotas of similar years. Im just wonder about the wiring of it..

I'm going to do this same thing to see if my friend's 2004 DC has the RS3000. Her truck didn't come with a key fob. I recently did the "free alarm mod" which turns the RS3000 into an alarm simply by unplugging a 2 pin connector under the dash. I found the attached RS3000 owners guide which has more info on programming. I used it to program my truck to automatically lock the doors when the truck is turned on, and unlock them when it's turned off. Here is how to do that:
