For those with a Snugtop XTR (or other SnugTop camper shell), I thought I'd share a quick "how-to" if you want to add more lighting than the standard SnugTop Dome LEDs (which I find insufficient).

First, you can remove the SnugTop Dome lighting by simply unscrewing the 4 screws here:

If you flip this Dome light LED over, the back looks like this:

You will want to connect your custom lights to the +12V and K2 ground for your new custom lights to function exactly as the factory dome LEDs. In other words, if you connect a +12V to the +12V, and a ground wire to the K2 ground, then when your SnugTop dome light is on, your custom lights will be on. And when your SnugTop dome is off, your custom lights will be off. You can set the switch to OFF, ON, or DOOR.

This makes installing another switch for the lights unnecessary, as the SnugTop dome light is its own switch.

Then you just run the +12V wire (usually red) and the ground wire (usually black) under the roof carpeting and down to your custom lights. I used the FlexFire LEDs here: http://www.flexfireleds.com/outdoor-colorbright-led-strip-light-reel-bright-white/

Tried this on my 2015 Tundra snugtop with exact same dome light. Blew several fuses and at one point dome light started to smoke! Think I followed the very simple directions and they made sense to me.

Tapped in to Red (+12) and White wire connected to K2. Frustrating since seems intuitive and simple?

Just thought that they could have switched K1 and K2 in newer design? Trying to map it out with multimeter.

May just hardwire new leds as the kit has a switch and it’s own fuse.

I know it’s been almost 10 years, but this is only thread I found about doing this.
