    Hi everybody,

As I am planning out things to replace over the next year or so on my 2005 5 Lug ball joints should be on that list. Looks like it's easy enough to find aftermarket replacements but after searching through threads here it seems like OEM is the way to go. I can only seem to find from the online Toyota part's places the ball joints as part of the whole control arms? Is that just "how it goes" are or is there a specific part number to search for?

    Thanks

Honestly just replacing the complete control arm is the way to go. Less hassle and down time. Plus the bushes come installed already. Rockauto.com sells oem ball joints

Thanks, that's what it was seeming like, means i don't have to rent a ball joint press. Do you know by chance which brand is the "OEM" on Rockauto?

Not off hand. But you look up the part # from a dealer and cross reference it to the rockauto.com part

Curious if anybody found a part number for just the Toyota LBJ and not the entire LCA? my dealer only pulls the LCA part number.

    Thanks

Having JUST done this on my 2015; Toyota does not sell just a ball joint. If you want OEM you will have to buy the whole LCA assembly. Mine ran about $200 each. Much easier this way. Probably should just order a set of the cam bushings as well-mine only had 50k (why was a lower ball joint bad this early on this mall rat??????) and I still needed one despite a week of spraying each side LOTS of the approved Toyota/Honda nut buster spray stuff. Took me a couple hours a side-first side to figure everything out, second side to cut and replace the stuck cam bolt. Not a hard job.

No. As stated in my linked post Toy has made them NA to North America and even though the part number will come up it can not be ordered from a dealer. As stated, I have been getting them from Japan and the UAE.

@feesquivel were 43330-09510 indeed the correct lower ball joints for a 2nd gen 4x4?

That is it but I have previously had problems with TPD listing something but not being able to actually deliver.

The thing to do is send them a message and have them confirm the actual availability of the part as the LBJs have been locked out from sale in NA for a number of years.

And there was never a part number specifically published for the Tacoma. I discovered it by searching backwards on the Hilux that is not sold here but is near identical in many cases and uses a lot of the same parts.

And if you don't have a tub of anti seize, you can use grease. I used Red-N-Tacky on my LCA hardware when I replaced it. Check your torque on those fasteners every couple of weeks afterward, I had one come loose after my first alignment but not sure the tech torqued them to 100 ft*lbs.

Agreed. It doesn't have to be antiseize. And usually it's the opposite of loose. They normally use an impact and smash the shit out of them.
