I realize my truck is not a sports car but just curious if there are any options to increase the performance of these 4.0 motors short of spending the $5000+ to supercharge it. I have the 6 speed manual and while its still fun to drive, it could use a LOT more get up and go..

gaining the little HP for the cost isn't worth it to me

super charge is going to give best bang for buck IMO

    $ = HP

You can spend a lot for a little, or spend a lot more for a little bit more.

    I'd enjoy the drive.

Read the supercharged threads and see what kind of can of worms that becomes.

you can get a pedal commander, there is a company on here that offers ECU tuning, intake, header, exhaust, etc.....

there are ways.... but youre never gonna get Supercharger power w/out the actual Supercharger :)

Either way OP. Supercharge or leave it stock... everything in between is very VERY minimal.

I’ve read that if you add a tacomaworld.com sticker, it doubles the HP of our trucks.

I haven’t personally verified this, but many members swear by it.

Not necessarily can of worms. You just end up itching to gain more power out of it since it is so easy to gain power out of FI applications. The mod bugs hits you hard. You know, sort of the same way it does when you first buy this truck. :D

    No doubt. :D

I meant also, the guages, gauge pods, etc.

Sometimes the buy in isn't the only big purchase. Small shit adds up quick.

There was a kid at the gas station just yesterday asked me "how much boost are you putting out". Well... I dont really know... no idea but I do know this, when I put my foot in it, it goes like a bat outta hell!

You aren't kidding. I'm in a good chunk of change with my build just with the supercharger alone! Let's not get into the suspension portion of the build.

You can get aftermarket manifolds, throttle body spacers, CAIs, exhaust mods, etc. and spend way more in $$$ than what you're getting back in gains.

Like others have said, the FI route is your 'best' bet, but only best if you're willing to smack a couple bands on the counter.

Otherwise, just drive it harder and pay for the extra fuel. :D

That's stock boost from a stock pulley, at sea level.

Unfortunately, for those of us at higher altitudes, there's less air and less atmospheric pressure where we live/drive. IIRC, the loss is roughly 0.5psi/1K ft. (This is the reason a 2.85" pulley is probably in my future...)
