I've seen where folks remove the Map Light Lens, and then try using tape or other means to try to get the bulbs out.

There IS an easier way! No tools required. You can do it with your bare hands in just a few seconds.

The entire Map Light Console simply snaps into place. To remove it, simply get hold of the edges with your fingertips and pull down on it until it comes unsnapped.

On the back side you'll see the snaps and the bulb sockets.

Twist the socket(s) CCW about 1/8 turn to remove the socket and bulb(s).

Replace the bulb(s) in the socket(s).

After replacing the bulb(s) and socket(s), snap the console back into place.

It's so easy . . . A cave man could do it.

I'm the kind of dude thats always breakin shit and was afraid to pull it off cuz whenever I yank on shit I break it...if it dont come off real easy I get paranoid and afraid to pull harder...thats just me...more brawn than brains...I did read how someone did that before I used the pen trick and when I started to pull I got real paranoid that I was gonna break it...that truck is my baby and I am very obsessed with it...almost to an unhealthy level...so when the pen trick worked I was very exited and wanted to share it...I cant be the only guy paranoid about breakin' shit on their prized possessions so I wanted to share what I found...tho pulling off the unit is more sensible and professional and you dont have to destroy a pen in the process.

This is me every time I tried to add something to one of my vehicles I end up messing up. Most of the time it’s minor, but I’m a perfectionist, so I always see the flaws I made and it drives me crazy.

We should all become best friends lol. I am always afraid to break anything in my '17. I always feel like I wanna do some mods to it, but I'm always afraid I'm gonna end up breaking something. I definitely want to replace all interior lights for some LEDs one of these days. I may just remove the lenses on the map lights though. I hate yanking panels off if I don't have to

Mini but related thread jack.... Does anyone know the part number to the red clips that hold the map light console into the body?? I live over an hour from the nearest dealer and the guy on the phone was the opposite of helpful. When I bought my truck used it came with 2 of them broken

I did it in the parking lot before I started my shift at work. really easy. DO IT!!
Also remember one quick pull is better than a slow pry with plastic clips that hold panels and consoles in. Door panels, kick plates, trim pieces. The clips are made to be pulled out with a quick yank, slow pull stresses the plastic and ends up breaking.
