Is retorque and lubricating propeller shaft every 15k mile on 4wd tacomas?

    how important is this maintainance?

On a 2022? Does it even have a zirk?
Never retorqued a driveshaft in my life.

I've always felt that those terms are carry over from much older models, I've seen re-torque as a check on prop shafts since I started at Toyota 12 years ago, never saw one loose.

Prop shafts havent had zerk fittings for the last 6-7 years.

So the answer is to both, never really.

I lube my 5 Zerks on my 2016 every year when I do oil changes. See post #1 on this link if you don’t remember 2016s having 5 Zerks.

Never retorqued the drive shafts in 8 years. I figure if something starts to need addressing, I will feel it while driving. As a matter of fact, today I replaced the transmission mount on my wife’s Corolla. It would clunk when shifting into Reverse.

2017 OR only has them on both ends of the front driveshaft. I do mine every 15k miles and more often if I go off-roading or have driven in 4wd a lot. Newer models don’t have them.

Never hurts to check stuff like that. A DS coming loose at freeway speed is no joke

I grease the zerks once a year and have stuck a wrench on the driveshaft once just to verify nothing was loose.
