Unless it's really dirty or you have to top it up alot (have a leak in the system) I'd say never. Maybe if I was doing a bunch of brake work I might consider it. But have never had to. Interested to see what others have to say..

Brake fluid is the most neglected fluid on most vehicles.
i try to change it out every year.
It absorbs moisture from the air whenever exposed to it and degrades quickly.
Humid places much faster than us desert lizards.

Worth the time to do it I feel, it is only your life when you really need them to work.

Same here. Since brake fluid is hygroscopic it is not a bad idea to change it out regularly since moisture can reduce braking capabilities.

That's why they made it so you can see the level without opening the reservoir. In 7 years I haven't needed to open the cap so no moisture.

Yea and the moisture im the fluid can rust components and under heavy braking boils much easier than brake fluid leading to pedal fade

Every 30k miles or so for my Civic since I autocross and drive it hard...stopping from 160mph is crazy - you can see sparks flying offmy pads in my gopro videos

For the Tacoma, I'm waiting till it looks dirty or notice a difference in braking - I don't beat on it hard and don't brake excessively.

I put every 3 years...but pretty much if I do any major brake work, I change the fluid and bleed the brakes

Whenever I touch my brakes, I bleed a bunch of fluid out to force new fluid through the lines. Usually every couple of years. On my motorcycle, every year I flush all the fluid out.

Every 2 years. As shown in the pictures, regardless of what you do, moisture will invade the hydraulic system and deteriorate the parts. New brake fluid is translucent yellow. If your brake fluid is black, it's overdue for changing. Brake fluid is a lot cheaper than wheel cylinders and calipers. Changing it is cheap insurance.
