I’ve got 111,000 miles on my truck and have cleaned the MAF 3 times. The last time was today. Each time it looked clean but I cleaned it anyway. I’ve been told some people clean them every time they replace the air filter. Based on how mine looked each time I’d say every 20,000 to 30,000 is fine. What say you?

I would say it "shouldn't" need cleaning if your air filter is doing it's job.

The throttle body should be cleaned though IMO, I do mine every 30k when I change the plugs.

Every 25-30K miles. Essentially when I do a spark plug and fluids maintenance.

My truck is 17 years old with 244,000 miles. I don't even know if my truck has one and if it does don't know where it is. I know there is one on my newer F150, but I've never cleaned it in 10 years and 142,000 miles. Both trucks still run like new.

Never. I figure it’s more likely to get damaged if I keep trying to clean it.

I do my once a year as a yearly maintenance item......air filter once every two. It will depend on environmental conditions (dusty dry) will all be factors. Sometime it will show up as bad gas mileage - takes only a few minutes to clean.

I wonder what the easiest way to clean the TB is. And without damaging it, as a full soak might do given the electronic components it involves.

last time probably just got brakleen on a shop rag and wiped it a bunch of times until carbon stopped showing up on the rag, tilting the butterfly plate open with my other hand, then key reset adaption after if possible
